Highlights from an Inspiring Weekend at the Care Innovation Challenge

We had an incredible experience at the recent Care Innovation Challenge, a high-energy weekend hosted at Coventry University’s TechnoCentre, where creativity met care sector know-how. The weekend kicked off with a thoughtful exploration of the biggest challenges currently facing social care from workforce retention and rising demand, to compliance burdens and system fragmentation.

From there, the room came alive with collaboration. Diverse teams brought together professionals from care, tech, and policy to brainstorm, design, and build practical solutions to real-world problems. Ideas quickly transformed into tangible prototypes, and each team was given the opportunity to refine their concepts with expert input and peer support.

The weekend culminated in a showcase of innovation, with teams presenting their solutions to a panel of industry leaders. However, the spirit of the Care Innovation Challenge is not simply about selecting a winner. It’s a launchpad a place where bold ideas are nurtured into viable, scalable ventures that could one day shape the future of social care.

We left inspired, energised, and full of admiration for the passionate changemakers driving progress in our sector. The weekend also provided a rich opportunity to connect with fellow innovators, sector leaders, commissioners, and entrepreneurs forging relationships that we know will fuel further impact in the months ahead.
